Raleigh Fencers Youth Program
FREE introductory class Thursdays at 6:30pm.
The Raleigh Fencers Youth Fencing program is a great learning experience for the children. Fencing utilizes a lot of fine motor skills and timing. This is addressed through a seris of coordinational skill games and physical conditioning to help promote and enhance a child's athletic ability. These games help them develop an understanding of their own body and how to apply themselves to the fencing enviroment.
The class then moves into fencing footwork and bladework drills. We discuss the tactics and application of techniques in a bout situation. The training regimin is set up so the students progress at their own pace.
So, the first 40 mins consists of the skill games and conditioning. The next 70 minutess is fencing drills and tactics. The last 10 or so minutes, if they work hard, we play some really fun tactics and skill games as a reward.
